Sitting proudly on the converging fairways of Corrimal and Kembla streets in North Wollongong is Panorama Court. The red-bricked corner piece always had a momentous air about it whenever I was headed up the steep runway of Corrimal Street. A young imagination could compare it to the Flatiron/Fuller Building in Manhattan, New York – I did say young mind. The bright brickwork contrasting with the white balconies with their intricate railings is something I imagined would encapsulate North Beach living for a twenty something. Though only six storeys, the building holds it ground like a behemoth amongst its more modern neighbours. One of my favourite apartment blocks in Wollongong, not only because of its appearance but also the lifestyle I’ve conjured up to go with it.
