Towards the end of last year, Room For Horse covered the incredible efforts of Wollongong’s most generous business community in the Home Of Hope campaign. The fundraising effort for Nicole Clulow whom was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer, aimed to complete the semi-renovated home that herself, her husband and young daughter shared. Eve McIntyre, who felt the most constructive way of helping her friend would be to complete the renovations of the Russell Vale house, organised the massive undertaking.
Over the summer an outpouring of generosity and compassion from Wollongong’s local businesses and tradespeople saw the home reach near completion, with 95% of the products, materials, furnishings and labour donated to the Home Of Hope cause.
The results? A craftingly furnished abode, tweaked with modern necessity and beachside charm. Here are the before and after shots.
The sheer scale of this effort isn’t realised until you compare the before and after shots.
The hallway before shot shows a very unrecognisable entrance, where the wall was partly replaced, floorboards laid and completely painted.
Comparing the before and after of the main bathroom highlights the scale of the whole operation. What was once a cluttered room with little resemblance to anything is now beautifully finished.
A wall partly removed, new floors, fresh paint and an opened doorway have completely transformed the old dining room into a spacious family area.
This is definitely one of the most awesome changes. In place of the TV and lounge is now a full kitchen, pantry and breakfast bar. The window was removed, pantry built and kitchen installed all within three weeks.
The whole campaign is truly inspiring, from the efforts of all the local businesses and people involved, including:
