Korean director Park Chan-wook’s (The Vengeance Trilogy, Thirst) new film The Handmaiden is a psycho-sexual crime¬†thriller set¬†in 1930s Japanese-occupied Korea. Based on Welsh writer Sarah Waters’ 2002 crime novel The Fingersmith, the film depicts a young pickpocket who is tasked with fleecing a rich heiress of her wealth. Problems arise when the two fall in love.
