The Sky Factory

Formed in 2002, The Sky Factory is a unique company based in Fairfield, Iowa that create luminous sky ceilings or virtual skylights with photographic illusions of real sky views suspended from the ceiling. These sky ceilings are translucent, high-resolution, photographic reproductions on acrylic panels that convey the color, scale and perspective of the actual sky. Their aim is to create effective illusions of nature and control the perspective of the images so that the when placed on a ceiling the images are accurate and properly scaled for the observers.

However these skylights are not just innovative or stylish design element they are an artistic technology. Research over the last several decades indicates that nature promotes healing in healthcare settings, improves productivity and satisfaction in the workplace, and increases well-being and reduces stress in all environments. No matter who we are or where we live, we all see and love the sky. Everyone, in every culture, has experienced lying on their back looking up into clouds floating across a blue canopy. So sit back and enjoy these relaxing rooftops.
